When It Gets Quiet

Some places don't change me. They quiet the noise enough for me to notice myself.

If a place keeps calling you, it's because a version of you has already been waiting for you there.

For me it's Annapurna, Inchnadamph, Jeju… the mountains and forests.

One thing I particularly noticed when I was travelling in these areas and they all share this similarity: when you lie down one to two hours after sunset, you will inevitably notice how quiet it is, both indoor and outdoor. The lack of manmade noise just like the lack of light pollution in these clear night skies. It's so quiet that you can hear your heart pounding inside the chest, feel the beats of life in the nature.

In cities there are too many manmade noises, so many of them till we can barely hear ourselves, nor feel ourselves. Out there in the wild nature, where there's no mobile signal, the only thing that matters is yourself, the nature you are surrounded by and the connection in between.
